Where are you based and how far do you travel?

We're based in Welshpool, Western Australia, but our trucks live on the east-west routes. Our specialty is cross-country interstate work — Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide ↔ Perth across the Nullarbor. The WA mine site work we do is east-coast originating, dropping at Pilbara, Goldfields or Mid-West sites as the end of an interstate run.

Do you do Perth metro or WA-only freight?

Our specialty is east-west interstate work, so we don't typically run Perth metro freight or pick-up-in-Perth WA mine runs. The exceptions are the occasional Gascoyne or Kalgoorlie run we'll fit around east-west work, or a forklift drop at Karratha when we're already heading that direction. The simplest way to find out if we can fit your job in is to give Spanner a call.

What kinds of loads do you carry?

We specialise in full loads — heavy haulage, mining equipment, machinery transport, general freight, and interstate runs. That covers excavators, dozers, drill rigs, ag machinery, palletised goods, oversize and OSOM permit loads, mine site demountables, modules, containers, offshore equipment, project cargo, and pretty much anything else you'd put on a truck for cross-country work. If you're not sure whether we can move your gear, just give Spanner a call and ask.

Do you handle oversize and permit loads?

Accepted Answer

Yes, heavy haulage and OSOM (Over-Size Over-Mass) movements are a regular part of what we do. We know the WA Main Roads permit process inside out, we can plan a compliant route, and we can coordinate pilot vehicles when the load needs them. Talk to us before you start ringing around. How quickly can you book in a job?

It depends on the load and how booked up we are that week, but we'll always be straight with you about timing. For urgent runs we can often get something on the road within 24-48 hours. For larger or interstate jobs, the more notice the better. Give us a call and we'll work it out together.

How do you quote a job?

Accepted Answer

Quotes are free and there are no hidden surprises. We need to know what the load is (type, weight, dimensions), where it's coming from, where it's going, and any access constraints at either end. Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we carry full commercial transport insurance including Goods in Transit cover. Happy to provide a Certificate of Currency if your job requires it.

Can you handle return loads or backloading?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. If your job is on a route we run regularly — Perth ↔ Brisbane, Perth ↔ Sydney, Perth ↔ Melbourne, Perth ↔ Adelaide, or east coast → Pilbara/Goldfields — there's a good chance we can offer you better rates as a return load. Just ask when you call.

Do you do mine site work?

Yes, mine site equipment transport is a big part of our business — but the key is we run it east-to-west. The gear we drop at Pilbara, Goldfields and Mid-West sites is east-coast originating, coming off Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide as part of an interstate run. We're across mine site induction requirements, shift schedules, and the realities of working with remote camps. We don't typically run Perth metro to WA mines as a standalone job.

Are you a one-off carrier or can I book regular freight?

Both. We do plenty of one-off jobs and we also have a number of regular weekly and contract clients. If you've got steady freight that needs a reliable carrier, we'd love to talk about a longer-term arrangement.

Who do I talk to when I call?

Accepted Answer

Spanner, every time. He's the owner-operator, the bloke driving the truck, and the bloke quoting your job. No call centres, no escalation tree, no broken telephone. If your load is on the road, you can talk to the person carrying it.

What hours are you available?

Question 13

Do you transport machinery for farmers and ag operators?

Accepted Answer

Yes, tractors, headers, sprayers, bins, ag machinery of all kinds. We move ag gear cross-country for harvest crews and farming operations. We know how to load ag gear properly and we won't muck up your equipment in transit.
