We recently ran two loads of bulka bags from Perth across to Cairns.

Our leg finished at Cairns. From there the freight went onto a barge heading further north, which the customer had organised at their end.

Both loads were tarped before they left the yard and stayed covered the whole way across.

When the freight has a boat to catch

A fair bit of freight heading into the far north goes by sea for the last leg, because road access up that way is limited and unreliable through the wet season. Cairns is where a lot of it gets handed over.

That changes how the road leg gets planned. The load has to be there and ready before the boat sails, so the run is worked backwards from the sailing date rather than forwards from pickup. Miss it and the freight sits until the next one.

So if your load has a sailing or a connection to make at the other end, tell us the date up front and we will plan the run around it. We handle the road leg across the country, you or your forwarder handle the water.

    Tarped for the run across

Bulka bags are woven and they will take on water if they are left open to the weather. Tarping them is straightforward enough, it just needs doing properly before the truck leaves.

Perth to Cairns is a long way in anyone's language, and the load goes through a fair bit of country and weather on the way. Anything that needs to stay dry gets tarped as a matter of course.
